The author of the book is in the book!

The New York Public Library recently listed Prologue’s own Rukhsana Khan’s Big Red Lollipop in their TOP 100 Great Children’s Books in 100 Years.

Rukhsana rocks! but for more than one reason. Her blog The Company we keep…, features a video clip where the author explains a very original way to engage kids in a conversation about the Big Red Lollipop.

Different perspectives
The thing is, for years before she got published, Rukhsana told the story of the Big Red Lollipop from HER perspective (that of the naughty little sister in the book, as told in this author’s clip on Youtube).

When her story was about to get published, her editor suggested she rewrites the story from HER BIG SISTER’s perspective (the one presented in the book).

Can you think of a better way to talk about perspectives with your students?

You can visit Rukhsana Khan‘s page in the Storytelling section of Prologue’s website. You can buy Big Red Lollipop on Amazon.
