Prologue Performing Arts appoints new Interim Executive Director Maria Williams and announces virtual 2020/21 season

September 28, 2020 – The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Maria Williams will be joining Prologue Performing Arts as the Interim Executive Director.

Maria brings with her over 15 years of experience as a marketing and sales professional in the arts and has worked with teachers and students across Canada and the U.S.A.  She has worked for some of Toronto’s largest arts organizations including Canadian Stage, The Toronto Symphony Orchestra, The Stratford Festival, Dancap Productions and Harbourfront Centre.

“The Board is excited to welcome Maria Williams as our Interim Executive Director. Maria brings extensive experience in management, digital operations, marketing, communications, and strategic partnerships that will augment Prologue’s position and operations with a continued commitment to our mission of increasing young people’s access to the arts.” says Hasan Makansi, President of the Board for Prologue Performing Arts.

“I am honoured to be joining Prologue Performing Arts as the Interim Executive Director. I was fortunate to have great teachers when I was in school who introduced me to the arts and live theatre. It has shaped who I am and sparked my passion for the arts from the very first moment that the house lights dimmed.  Being part of Prologue Performing Arts allows me to take that passion and excite the new generation of teachers, students, and parents.”

Prologue Performing Arts is also embarking on an exciting digital transformation in response to the ongoing challenges of COVID. As teachers are dealing with the challenging tasks of teaching in schools with various restrictions and learning to teach in a virtual setting, we want to reassure educators that we are still here for them and their students. We have tailored our new season to a completely virtual platform. Teachers will have a variety of arts opportunities to choose from for their curriculum content including dance, music and performing arts, as well as select performances in French.

Prologue Performing Arts Online 2020/21 season will be announced this week, stay tuned to our social media channels and website for details on the full line-up.
