Join Mestre Sérgio Xocolate for an authentic Capoeira workshop, featuring rich traditional movements, music, songs, dance, drumming and important stories of cultural expression and preservation from the North East of Brazil. An additional original Body Percussion sequence will also be explored and students will have the chance to celebrate their learnings through spotlighting individual or group solos as desired. Workshop partner and percussionista Suzanne Roberts Smith provides accompaniment in English and/or French.

About Mestre Sérgio Xocolate & Suzanne Roberts Smith
Performance duo, and married couple, Mestre Sérgio Xocolate & Suzanne Roberts Smith were brought together by the power of percussion from Pernambuco Brazil. Mestre Sérgio is a Master of Capoeira, award winning Singer/Songwriter/Musician, Recording Artist & Cultural Ambassador of Indigenous & Afro Brazilian traditional music and performing arts from the North East of Brazil. Suzanne is a critically acclaimed actor, director, physical theatre performer, artist educator, and percussionista. Together they speak five languages.
