Project Description

Raine Hamilton

Starlight, Stories, and Songs – Performance

Folk singer songwriter Raine Hamilton uses her guitar, violin, and voice in this set of stories and songs. Combining humour and vulnerability, Raine lets the students in on her heart-opening journey to self-acceptance. Raine believes that music is for everyone, so she offers the show with American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation to make her shows more accessible to the Deaf community, and to increase awareness of inclusion.

Songwriting – Workshop

Songwriting is for everyone, and it can be heaps of fun! Participants explore what they have to say using time-tested writing prompts about their own memories and experiences – because we are all interesting, we are all important, and we all have something to share. Raine walks students through a step-by-step process that still leaves room for creative exploration and rule breaking. Raine is happy to explore specific themes and curriculum connections.

About Raine Hamilton

Raine Hamilton is a bilingual (EN/FR) singer-songwriter based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She believes that music is for everyone, and that we all have something to share. Raine has 18 years of experience working with young people, including 7 years in the school system. Raine offers performances and workshops that seek to leave a lasting impact, sharing a message of self-love, and teaching a creative process that can be practiced for life.

“I would highly recommend this pint-sized dynamo to any presenter.  Ps. She’s great with kids.”

Jennifer Ives, AD of Live From the Rock Folk and Blues Festival

“Raine is one of the most talented artist teachers I have worked with in my career. She is extremely effective at engaging and instructing her students, while truly inspiring and supporting them to be the best musicians they can be.”

Tanya Derksen, Former Director of Education and Outreach, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra

“Le personnel a trouvé tes ateliers et tes habiletés de gestion très professionnels. Tu t’es si bien intégré dans l’école que pendant une semaine tu es devenue un membre de notre petit personnel.”

Daniel Couture, Principal at L'école communautaire la voie du nord

“Raine was flexible and “cool” enough to engage the interest of both the preschool and the grade twelve students. Raine’s concerts were geared to both of the assigned age levels (elementary and senior years), with appropriate songs and banter, catching the students’ attention, and holding it for the entire event.”
