Prologue’s own Motus O was offered a $189,400 three-year grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their innovative program.

We asked dance and theatre company Motus O to comment on this great news. Their answer says a lot about the kind of proposal which appeals to the Trillium Foundation.

The three major projects the funding is supporting are actually equally appealing to us. Working with individuals with autism, aphasia and acquired brain injuries is not only an exciting and new venture for us but it is extremely rewarding seeing what other benefits dance/movement can have on individuals outside of performing on a stage.

The creation of an annual show for the Markham Fair (A Fair Tale) is on the totally opposite side of the scale where we are creating a work to both educate and entertain people, in our own tent on the history of fairs. It’s our chance to finally become carnies!

We’ve read some reviews of this 15-min show with a steam punk feel and people have said that it is “awesome, extremely well written, well performed and a ton of fun”.

“We’d like to eventually travel to other agricultural fairs to present this work.” – Motus O

Community outreach in their DNA

Motus O is not new to being involved in their community. For years, they’ve offered the people of Stouffville (their homebase) a chance to audition for small parts in their entertaining adaptation of A Christmas Carol. It has become a beloved local tradition, equally fun for the outsiders and friends and family of the participants.
