Something from Nothing is a Dora Mavor Moore Award-winning tale of a boy’s special relationship with his grandfather. Joseph cherishes the baby blanket his grandfather made him. As Joseph grows older, his grandfather faithfully “snips, snips, snips” the blanket into a wonderful coat, then a vest, then a tie, a kerchief and finally a button. One day the button is lost and a distraught Joseph pleads with his grandfather to create a new button. Grandpa tells Joseph that he cannot make “something from nothing” but Joseph realizes that there is one more thing he can make himself…a wonderful story! This delightful theatrical rendition of the much loved children’s book by Phoebe Gilman is brought to life with the use of music, dance, drama and wonderful puppetry.
