Jack Grunsky, a multiple Juno Award winner, is one of Canada’s finest children’s performers. The It's Show Time program (formerly Big Blue Ball) is a spectacular success with students, teachers and parents and helps enhance and augment your music program.
Pre-Program: ADVANCE PREPARATION
Your school receives a package of CD samplers with Jack’s songs plus lyrics and activity guides. 8 classrooms choose one song each to learn for their performance with Jack.
Day One with Jack: REHEARSAL SESSIONS
In the morning, Jack arrives at your auditorium or performance area to set up his equipment. In turn, each class visits Jack to rehearse and develop their song for the concert (8 x 20 minutes).
Day Two with Jack: TWO CONCERT PERFORMANCES
AFTERNOON CONCERT: Acting as master of ceremonies, Jack invites each classroom onto the stage to perform their song while providing musical support. The audience can include non-participating classes up to Grade 6.
EVENING CONCERT: The concert is repeated for families and friends. The format is flexible and Jack will call your school two weeks in advance to discuss details.

This hands-on workshop/performance is a demonstration of a great variety of fascinating rhythm makers and instruments from around the world. With music, songs and games, Jack draws students into the enchanting world of rhythm with his own unique approach to music making for children.
Explore the berimbau and udu from Brazil; the mbira, ‘talking drum’, seed pod shakers and the log drum from Africa; the angklung bamboo shakers from Indonesia; the ocarina from Italy; the bull roar from Australia; castanets from Spain; the malimba from the Caribbean; the kokiriko from Japan; the ankle bells and gopichand from India; the loon whistle from Newfoundland; the frame drum, tonbak and doumbak from the Middle East; the bendir from Morocco; the ukulele from Hawaii, and many more.
Students will sing and participate in songs and games, join in the ‘percussion band’, have a dialogue with the ‘talking drum’ and get up and exercise to the tambourine song, ‘Jumpin’ Beans’.

Jack’s songs of global harmony and peace have a special effect on children and adults alike with their memorable melodies and meaningful lyrics. Jack believes in the power of music to transform, inspire, motivate and nurture a sense of hope and respect for one another, for our environment and the world. His songs teach peace and tolerance, understanding and love.
