The National Ballet of Canada offers an engaging lecture-demonstration right in the school gymnasium. Students have the rare opportunity to meet classical ballet dancers up close and experience the athleticism and grace of dance.
Four dancers, a piano accompanist and a narrator guide students through a day in the life of a dancer, from ballet class (the daily ritual of stretches and exercises) to a performance. The program features demonstrations of basic ballet exercises, pointe work, partnering, make-up and wardrobe, as well as the creation of exciting and dramatic characters. Highlights of the performance include a selection of dances from The National Ballet of Canada's repertoire and students paticipating in mime demonstrations.
