Autorickshaw Duo fuses fascinating and exciting musical traditions from around the globe. Students learn signature features of Indian classical music interspersed with performances of this duo’s original music. Tabla (north Indian drum), kanjira (south Indian drum), tamboura (drone instrument) and voice (singing and vocal percussion) make up the myriad of sounds in this unique musical style.
Songs and Rhythms of India includes traditional repertoire, as well as interactive call and response using vocal percussion, drumming and singing. Autorickshaw Duo’s virtuosic musicians have created a unique style of music that, while strongly rooted in ancient, traditional art forms, is uniquely Canadian.
