This newly revised and updated performance fuses fascinating and exciting musical traditions from around the globe. Dedicated to bringing traditional Indian classical music together with jazz and contemporary music, Autorickshaw Duo’s versatile and virtuosic musicians have created a unique style of music that, while strongly rooted in ancient, traditional art forms, is uniquely Canadian.
Autorickshaw Duo uses a variety of instruments including voice (singing and vocal percussion), tabla (north Indian drum), kanjira (south Indian drum) and tamboura (drone instrument) to create a dynamic and interactive experience for smaller groups. Songs and Rhythms of India includes traditional repertoire with a focus on melody and rhythms, as well as interactive call and response using vocal percussion, drumming and singing.
