Welcome to another exciting, educational and entertaining season!

For more than 40 years, Prologue to the Performing Arts has been delivering top-quality performances to schools across the province. Our artists and companies visit school gymnasiums, auditoriums, classrooms and libraries to present live performances that are curriculum related and help students of all ages meet the expectations of the Ontario Curriculum.

Each year, Prologue artists and companies inspire and educate almost 1 million students, teachers and parents at over 3000 performances!

Check out seven new artists and companies and twelve new shows from our existing artists in both French and English. Our experienced and professional sales staff look forward to working with you to create special moments for your school community.

Prologue is An Arts Education Leader

Prologue is proud to act as a leading resource for schools as well as artists and community presenters. The following are a few examples of our commitment to strengthening arts education and supporting our valued partnerships:

Arts Education Forums

“Think Creatively! A Forum on Integrating the Arts into our Children’s Lives,” organized by CCI-Ontario Presenting Network, eyeGo to the Arts and Prologue, is a forum dedicated to coordinating the efforts of educators, artists and community presenters in order to increase performing arts experiences for children in Ontario. The fourth forum will be held at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, October 22, 2008.

Arts Education Partnership Project

Prologue has partnered with the Foundation for Education to deliver an exciting new project that brings together Perth-Huron and Prologue artists in a unique and collaborative touring project to explore the theme of Understanding Human Diversity. Artists will be touring schools in the Avon Maitland District School Board September 29-October 10, 2008.

Distillery Arts Outreach Project

The Distillery Arts Outreach Project is a joint venture between Inner City Angels, Mariposa in the Schools and Prologue to deliver an interdisciplinary arts project that partners professional artists with children from Toronto’s priority neighbourhoods to explore dance, music, theatre, visual and media arts in an after school setting.

Education Resource Consultant

Prologue is committed to providing the best resource to schools and artists and has hired an Education Resource Consultant to collaborate with artists on study guide material, to connect the performances to the Ontario curriculum, to consult on educational inquiries and ensure educational issues, policies and standards are applied to all Prologue projects.

The Paula Awards

The Paula Awards are named in recognition of the extraordinary contribution made by Paula and David Butterfield to Prologue’s Arts’ Endowment Fund.

The interest received from the Fund is used fully, or in part, to enable a work for young audiences by one or more Prologue artists and companies to be brought to completion.

The four recipients of The 2007 Paula Awards are:

Autorickshaw Duo, Toronto, ON
Red Sky Performance, Toronto, ON
Shannon Thunderbird, Toronto, ON
Silk Road Music, Burnaby, BC
