The skates slice through ice, the crowd cheers, the score board lights up and the music rings in your ears! Every kid dreams of making it to the big league. And every kid has to deal with the challenges and conflicts off the ice and the pressures to succeed. The Big League is about hockey, but also any activity a child participates in and feels the need to win.

Carousel Theatre, now entering its 32nd season, has produced 130 plays for young people. The company is dedicated to inspiring, enlightening and entertaining young people and their families through accessible theatrical experiences that develop both audiences and artists.

The Big League is a high-energy, physical show that explores the pressures kids face to succeed. In June 2006, The Big League was awarded two Jessie Richardson Theatre awards for Best Direction and Outstanding Artistic Achievement.

In The Big League, Tommy is a talented young hockey player with dreams of making it to the big league, but the more Tommy plays, the more his father pressures him to win. Playing rough on the ice leads to conflict off the ice with his father and his friends who help Tommy decide what is best for himself and how to play the game his way. The Big League is about hockey, but ultimately it is about any activity in which a child participates and may feel pressure to do better.
