Announcing The 2007 Paula Award Winners!
The seventh annual Paula Awards were announced by Paula Butterfield today at Prologue to the Performing Arts (Prologue).
The Paula Awards are named in recognition of the extraordinary contribution made by Paula and David Butterfield to Prologue’s Arts’ Endowment Fund. The interest received from the Fund is used fully, or in part, to enable a work for young audiences by one or more Prologue artists and companies to be brought to completion through a final workshop or rehearsal period.
The four recipients of The 2007 Paula Awards are:
Autorickshaw Duo, Toronto ON
$2,000 towards the costs of a director and props for a New Show
Red Sky Performance, Toronto ON
$3,500 towards costumes, sets and props for Trickster
Silk Road Music, Vancouver BC
$2,800 towards the rehearsal and music costs for La Francophonie autour du Globe
Shannon Thunderbird, Toronto, ON
$1,200 towards sound recording costs for Daughter of the Copper Shield
Previous winners of The Paula Awards are: Ballet Creole (2001 & 2006) and Emerita Emerencia (2001); Kanata Native Dance Theatre and Shannon Thunderbird (2002); Rag and Bone Puppet Theatre (2003 & 2006) and Waterwood Theatre Productions (2003); Ballet Jörgen, DuffleBag Theatre, Les Productions Lalalère, The National Tap Dance Company of Canada and Silk Road Music (2004) and Breadbox Theatre, Cadence, Kahurangi Maori Dance Theatre and Motus O dance theatre (2005), Rukhsana Khan and The Trillium Brass (2006).

A Prologue committee consisting of Paula Butterfield, Ruth Preston, Chair, Board of Directors, Susan Habkirk, Executive Director, Pat McCarthy, Education Resource Consultant and Natalie Prézeau, Chair, Program Committee selected the recipients of The 2007 Paula Awards.
