Prologue’s 88 theatre, dance, music, puppetry, storytelling and variety/comedy performances are interactive adventures for the mind, the senses and the soul. A Prologue performance gives students their first taste of Shakespeare, teaches them about anti-racism and introduces them to the magic of live performance right in their own gymnasium, library or classroom.
Each Prologue performance relates to the Creative and Critical Analysis Process of the new Ontario Curriculum for Arts Education and begins where the creative process begins - with INSPIRATION and a challenge. Students listen, watch and, at times, participate in the magic of the performance and are challenged to strive for the same degree of excellence in their own creative endeavours.
A Prologue performance doesn’t end with the final curtain call. Immediately following the performance, students ENGAGE with the artist. They are encouraged to express their thoughts and feelings, to ask questions and to explore, reflect and comment on what they have experienced.
Back in the classroom, the students continue the learning process with the help of the activities in the Teacher Resource Materials that are provided with every Prologue performance. These activities guide students towards making CONNECTIONS to their own art work, to culture, and to life.
